The Asri, which opened in September 2019, is located in a wonderfully peaceful tropical glade just 400m from one of Bali’s most spectacularly wild beaches. It is in the fringe of the village of Pekutatan, a very short drive from Medewi. The rooms here are comfortable and spacious and are all fitted with air-con, TV and fans. The owner and staff are known for their unforgettable West Balinese hospitality. With only four rooms, The Asri is a little gem that is already attracting many return guests who appreciate outstanding value for money.

What's the appeal?

 

A five-minute walk up the dirt-track through coconut plantations takes you to an empty black sand beach that stretches in an unbroken curve for about 8km eastwards from here. Medewi is a seven-minute drive (or a 25-minute walk along the beach). The unique appeal of The Asri is that you might just find that you don’t want to leave at all! The tropical gardens are so beautiful and the general ambience so restful that you might just want to spend your time swinging in the hammock on your room’s veranda, watching the kingfishers swoop through the bamboo stand in the gully. If however, you want to explore the owner is always happy to advise on travel in the area – or to introduce you to the ceremonies that are constantly taking place in the village.

Rooms

 

There are only four rooms at The Asri, and all have air-con, a fan and TV. They also heave have a lovely open-air en-suite bathroom which, for the moment, has only cold water (although the owner does plan on putting in hot water).  The beds are large and comfortable. Each room has a private veranda with beautiful garden views; there is a coffee table, chairs and hammock out here. The nightly rate includes breakfast, which is served either in a small dining area or on the verandah.

Facilities

 

The owner’s family runs a small warung (eatery) on the beach just 400m away. Just a six-minute walk away is the lovely Puri Dajuma resort, and you're welcome to use the pool if you have a meal or drink there, or book a spa appointment. Scooter hire can be arranged at The Asri, as can a shuttle to Medewi and a driver to take you on a tour of the area. The Asri has good wifi.

Location

 

The Asri is located in a rural enclave on a tranquil private road on the fringe of Pekutatan village. It is peaceful here, and exclusive as you can get at this price.
