Hut and Hideaway

If you're looking for something that's a little different from Bali's "regular" paddies and palm tree views, then this contemporary riverside "hut" could well be what you're looking for.

What's the appeal?
It's all about location. Yes, the villa itself is comfortable – but can we first take a moment to appreciate the view? Hut and Hideaway is situated almost at water-level on a grand, sweeping curve of the lower Balian River. Cliffs and trees, gentle rapids and rocks all comprise the vista of this special little hideaway. The villa itself is a small, relatively new building that's very well appointed and looked after, and is fronted by a deck that's a perfect place on which to roll out your yoga mat, or sit back in a beanbag and enjoy a chilled Bintang.

The "hut"
Hut and Hideaway is a self-contained contemporary-style building. There is a deck out front, on which stands a small kitchen with all the basics for self-catering, as well as a table at which you can have your meals, and two large beanbags. Inside, there is a queen-size bed, mini-bar fridge, large flatscreen TV and a book shelf, and the bathroom – with a big stone bath – is enclosed by a wall, but outside. It's contemporary, slick, quite simple and beautifully kept.

Facilities
The kitchen unit on the veranda means you can prepare your own meals, but breakfast is provided and there is a menu from which you can order a take-away meal. In-villa massages can be arranged too.

Location
Hut and Hideaway is located on the Balian River, a few hundred metres inland of the main Denpasar–Gilimanuk road. It it on private property and feels quite remote – which is part of the appeal – but it's a five-minute drive, possibly less, from here into Balian village.
