Bali Gecko Homestay is tucked into a quiet, leafy lane between the main road and the beach. It sits within an enormous garden and most of the rooms have fantastic views onto the mountains of West Bali National Park.

What's the appeal?
This homestay is excellent value for money. The rate given here is for the "cheap rooms" – there are four – which are really comfortable and exceptionally clean, and it also includes breakfast. This is an ideal base for travellers on a budget who'd like to spend a fair amount of time in the area. The more expensive rooms are a lot bigger, and mattresses can be added if you're travelling with kids.

Rooms
Bali Gecko Homestay has four standard rooms and two larger ones. Both types are simply decorated; they're clean, have comfortable beds, semi-open-air bathrooms and a veranda that opens out onto the garden. The standard rooms have a view of the mountains from the veranda.

Facilities
Breakfast is included in the price, and this is served in a restaurant area at the entrance to the property. The breakfast served is a small plate of fruit, a banana pancake and tea/coffee/fruit juice. There is wifi at this homestay. The staff here can arrange scooter hire.

Location
Bali Gecko Homestay is well signposted, and it's in a quiet lane between the main Singaraja – Gilimanuk road and the beach. It's situated at the base of a peninsula hill and is fairly close to "Romantic Beach" (according to a handmade sign)... which isn't really worth visiting – you'd be better off heading for the beach near Taman Sari and Biorock Homestay. This beach and the restaurants that are clustered around the main road in central Pemuteran are probably a 15-minute walk away; you might be more comfortable in the heat of the day if you have a scooter.
